Common Reasons to Add Blank Pages
The most frequent use case is double-sided printing: when a chapter ends on an odd page, you need a blank even page before the next chapter starts so it always opens on the right side. Other reasons include adding a cover page placeholder, inserting divider pages between sections, and adding empty pages at the end for handwritten notes or signatures.
What Page Size and Orientation?
By default, the blank page is added at the same dimensions as the existing PDF pages. If the document has mixed page sizes (e.g., some portrait, some landscape), the blank page will match the page it's inserted after. You can adjust the size using the Page Size tool after inserting if needed.
- For double-sided print, add blank pages after any section that ends on an odd page
- For note-taking pages, insert a blank at the end of each chapter
- For divider pages, insert before the start of each new section
Step-by-Step: Add a Blank Page to a PDF
1. Open the Add Pages tool and upload your PDF. 2. Select where to insert the blank page — before or after a specific page number. 3. Optionally set the number of blank pages to insert (e.g., insert 2 for double-sided printing). 4. Click Add Pages. 5. Download the updated PDF.
